Trip to Portland for Anton and Rachel's wedding.

This past weekend we took a short trip to Portland to see Anton and Rachel get married and also to visit with Troy and Valerie who moved to Portland from LA last year. We flew in Friday and spend the night at T & V's place, hanging out and catching up with what's been going on. Saturday morning we slept in and ate at a country breakfast place, nearby that claims to have the best country fried steak in the area. We of course were up for the challenge. Mark was served a giantic portion of this stuff, probably 3.5 times the size of a normal serving. Though he tried valiently, and even with my help, we still left half of it still on the plate when we left. Verdict? It was meatier than other ones we've had, and it was good. In the afternoon, we went to Portland to go to the OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) when we spend the afternoon walking through their animation exhibit and science rooms.

Afterwards, we checked into our hotel room at the Kennedy School, when Anton and Rachel's wedding was going to held. The Kennedy School used to be a elementary school, and it was refurbished and turned into a hotel with conference rooms, a movie theater, restaurant and bars. As Rachel put it, "it's 90% cool and 10% scary". Our room was the school's old music room, and it was furnished with a couch and chalk boards. I loved the high ceiling and very tall windows. The picture shows the bed board, which I thought was interesting. The whole place is decorated in a variety of different types of art so it was fun to walk around. The best part of all of course was the free wifi access =)

After we checked in and wandered the grounds a bit, we then proceeded to go out to dinner, trying out a restaurant Anton had suggested via email called the Saucebox. It was trendy, but the food was good and we got to try some cool new things, like cucumber lemonade. It was pretty late Saturday night by the time we were done, so we decided to crash at T&V's place for the night. Sunday morning, we went to church with T&V and ate lunch at PF Chang's before driving back to Portland for the wedding.

The ceremony was simple, and it was weird seeing Anton all dressed up =) It was a nice affair. We flew back to LA on Monday, enjoying the free wifi at the Portland airport before our flight back.
