The world is a rainbow...

I'm writing this in Hawaii on our first day on our short Mother's day weekend trip home. We flew in late Thursday night, getting into Hawaii at 11:30pm, and woke up early this morning to go see Caleb at his preschool's May Day program. For those not from Hawaii, May Day is celebrated every year in the beginning of May, with lots of flowers and leis, and celebrates spring and Hawaiian culture through song and dance. Usually there is a royal court, and princes and princesses are picked to represent each of the Hawaiian islands. A king and queen are also picked, representing King Kamehameha and his wife. Each class sings and dances to a different song, and Caleb's class song was "The World is a Rainbow". We were a little concerned that Caleb would be too shy to get up in front of everyone but he did a great job and we were all very proud of him. Caleb is pictured in the red shirt in the middle of the lineup.

It turned out to be a very appropriate song today because we saw not one, but two rainbows as we were driving around. I took a picture of one of them from in front of my sister's condo.

Its been nice to spend time with my nephews. Noah is definitely talking more since the last time we saw him in December, and its very cute to communicate with him. I have to laugh to hear Caleb when he uses complete sentences, and he seems to be totally normal since his accident. Their favorite dvd at the moment is Hookwinked, and I'm sure by the end of the vacation we'll have seen it a million times, like the last vacation (in which Sky High was their favorite). Tonight we ate at Sushi Locomotion, in which plates of sushi travel by you via a conveyer belt and you just grab what you want to eat. At the end the waitress counts how many plates you got and what color (different colors have different prices) to find out your total. We had Coldstone afterwards. Noah likes coffee ice cream and Caleb is partial to strawberry.
